For a smooth start and optimum performance right from the start.
To ensure that you can utilise the full performance and all the functions of your new product, a few important set-up steps are required before using it for the first time. Don't worry - the set-up is simple, quick and ensures that everything works smoothly.

Update the software now:
Before you start using your new orbital welding head, an important preparatory step is required: The power source must be updated to software version 3.1.0 or higher. Only with this update will the power source recognise the welding head correctly. This ensures that all functions of the head are available and trouble-free operation is possible. It is therefore essential that you carry out the software update before initial commissioning in order to optimally prepare your system.

Perform software update:
- Download the files Smartwelder.ZIP and OM_V3.2.2.OTU and save them to a USB stick.
- Make sure that the USB stick is formatted in FAT32 format and has a memory size of at least 16 GB.
- Connect the USB stick to a free USB port on the power source.
- The power source automatically recognises which updates are required based on the currently installed software version.
- Navigate to the software update in the main menu of the power source: ‘Settings’, ‘System data’, ‘Update’, ‘Update system’ and confirm the update.
- The update takes approx. 20-40 minutes, depending on the current software version.
- During the update, the power source must not be switched off and the USB stick must not be removed. A progress bar on the display shows the status of the update.
- Once the update is complete, the power source restarts automatically.
Check the software version:
- Check the software version shown in the header bar of the display.
- If version 3.2.2 or higher is displayed, the software update has been successfully completed.
- If a lower version is displayed, the update must be carried out again.
- Repeat the update until version 3.2.2 or higher is displayed in the header bar.
The following instructions describe the steps required to correctly assemble the Quick Connect connection between the Mobile Welder and Orbiccol.

Perform Software Update for DVR M
To ensure you can use your new DVR M without issues, please update your power source software now. This update is required for the power source to correctly recognize the DVR M and is essential for full functionality and reliable operation.

How to initialize a new control panel in your OWX:
After replacing the control panel, it must be re-initialized in the power source.
This allows the power source to recognize which version of the OWX welding head is connected.
- Switch on the power source and connect the OWX welding head.
- In the main menu, navigate to “Settings” → “Service”.
- Select “Motor Adjustment” without opening it.
Then hold down the ALT key and enter “owx” twice to open the hidden menu. - Select the appropriate head type (OWX 1.5, OWX 3.0 or OWX 4.5).
- Enter the last 9 digits of the welding head’s serial number. The first digit (8) is already preset.
- Confirm the entry with “Write Data”.
- The welding head has now been initialized and is ready for use.
