OWX Software Update

A software update of the power source is necessary to enable the full functionality of the OWX weld head and to ensure smooth operation.

See how easy it is to carry out the software update.

 

With the software update, the power source is brought up to the current version 3.1.0 or higher. This update is required to unlock the full functionality of the OWX weld head and to ensure optimal communication between the weld head and the power source. Only with the correct software version can the power source fully recognize and support all OWX functions – enabling smooth operation, improved control, and maximum process reliability.

In this video, we show you step by step how to carry out the update: from preparing the USB stick and downloading the software files to installing the update directly on the power source. We also give you tips on what you need to pay attention to during the process. The software update is easy to carry out and takes around 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the initial version. As soon as it is complete, the OWX is available to you with all its smart functions - ready for welding.

Performing the software update

 

  1. Download the Smartwelder.ZIP and OM_V3.1.0.OTU files and save them to a USB stick.
  2. Make sure that the USB stick is formatted in FAT32 format and has a memory size of at least 16 GB.
  3. Connect the USB stick to a free USB port on the power source.
  4. The power source automatically recognizes which updates are required based on the currently installed software version.
  5. Navigate to the software update in the main menu of the power source: “Settings”, “System data”, “Update”, “Update system” and confirm the update.
  6. The update takes approx. 20-40 minutes, depending on the current software version.
  7. During the update, the power source must not be switched off and the USB stick must not be removed.
  8. A progress bar on the display shows the status of the update.
  9. Once the update is complete, the power source restarts automatically.

 

Checking the software version

 

  1. Check the software version displayed in the header bar of the display.
  2. If version 3.1.0 or higher is displayed, the software update has been successfully completed.
  3. If a lower version is displayed, the update must be carried out again.
  4. Repeat the update until version 3.1.0 or higher is displayed in the header bar.
