Post Purge - Flow Force

This software feature is used to set the gas post-purge time. It ensures rapid cooling of the workpiece and the welding head, as well as extending the service life of the tungsten electrode and the equipment.

See how easy it is to set up this feature.

The setting of the gas post-flow time is very important in orbital welding as it has a direct influence on the weld seam quality. The post-purge time refers to the time it takes for the shielding gas to flow through the welded area after the welding process has been completed and to continue to protect it from oxidation and other contaminants.

With the correct setting of the gas post-purge time, the quality of the weld seam can be improved and rework minimized at the same time. It also ensures rapid cooling of the workpiece and welding head, as well as extending the service life of the tungsten electrode and equipment. In this video, we show you how to operate the Flow Force feature and give you practical tips on how to correctly set the gas post-purge time at the end of the welding process.

How it works

  1. Activate the Flow Force function within the rinsing section of the welding process by flipping the switch.
  2. A new value appears: Flow Force time.
  3. For the gas post-flow at the end of the welding process, the Flow Force time can be set the same as the gas post-flow time, as there is no interruption of the welding chamber.
  4. The setting of the gas post-flow time depends on the previously set Flow Force volume flow in the pre-purge section of the welding process. As the Flow Force flow rate was previously increased to 45 CFH (21.3 l/min) and the gas pre-flow time was reduced to 15 seconds, the gas post-flow time should also be reduced to 15 seconds. The Flow Force time is automatically adjusted to 15 seconds.
  5. Save these values in the program. To do this, select Quick save and confirm with "Yes".
